According to a media report, Royal Enfield is in advanced discussions with Chinese motorcycle brand CFMoto for its next-generation 250cc platform (codenamed: V).
Royal Enfield is said to be scouting for powertrains, hybrid systems, and electronics for its next-gen ICE and electric models. The report states that top executives from Royal Enfield recently travelled to China to meet representatives from CFMoto and other suppliers during the Shanghai Motor Show.
As per the report, the CFMoto-sourced engine will be compact and fuel-efficient and will support the integration of a hybrid system in the future, without the need for costly modifications. That being said, the chassis, suspension, and design of the ‘V’ platform will be done completely in-house.
Products based on the new ‘V’ platform will be positioned below the Hunter 350. The new 250cc models are likely to be priced around Rs 1.25 to Rs 1.35 lakh and will target first-time buyers and riders looking to upgrade from 100cc and 150cc bikes.
Royal Enfield aims to double its annual production from 1 million to 2 million units by 2030, with the new ‘V’ platform playing a crucial role along with the 750cc range and EV program.
While there has been no official word from Royal Enfield yet, reports suggest that if the deal goes through, an official announcement could be made in the first half of FY2026.
